As the premiere of Gavin & Stacey series 2 approaches (Mar 16, 9pm, BBC3), more press is jumping on profile pieces of show creators James Corden + Ruth Jones.
Here from the Telegraph is ”Gavin & Stacey: New faces at comedy’s
top table.”
Quick recap:
- Good photo of James and Ruth – love the setting.
- They talk about how they work together and the genesis for Gavin & Stacey.
- It’s revealed that James is mostly responsible for the show’s romance. He’s called himself a softie even, (see ”Interview and Profile in The Observer…“)
- They talk about writing a Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
- They talk about possible a Bryn-based spin off.
- Contradictory to a prior article (and our post, “Gavin & Stacey coming to the US” ) this piece reveals that Corden is working on a sketch show with co-star Mat Horne (not Jones, as previously reported). That makes sense, given their work on Big Brother’s Big Mouth (see Part 1 of our 3 part series on BBBM).
- However, it also reveals that Corden + Jones are working on a modern-day musical adaptaion of Cinderella for BBC.
This could be the project alluded to in the previous posts & articles (and also makes sense given the romantic, modern-day story they’ve written into Gavin & Stacey). Hopefully more details to come.
