The 2009 WhatsOnStage.com Theatergoers’ Choice Awards Concert was held last night and chalk it up to a second successful show for hosts James Corden and Sheridan Smith.

Although the infamy of the evening was considerably tamer than last year’s Corden-Daniel Radcliffe kiss, thelondonblog reports that Corden still added a bit of colour and humor to the evening.

The official recap adds that one of the funniest moments came when Corden berated the “Best Lighting Technician” award and was subsequently doused in darkness. In the embedded video, you can catch a glimpse of the gag starting at the 4:17 mark.

No new rumors of anything scandalous between the hosts – many media outlets report that Corden and Smith have reignited their on-again, off-again romance.

For Corden, it was the first gig of a two-performance week. He and Mat Horne host the Brit Awards alongside Kylie Minogue on Wednesday.
